LINUX

Linux is an Open Source Operating System after Unix in the tech world. It is highly secured OS in comparison to other Operating Systems. It is not a computer language. It is a portable, multiuser, multilingual and freely available operating system quite similar to Unix, but Unix is paid OS. It is a system defined with unique Kernel (Microlithic Kernel) which is the core part of the Linux and consists of modular phases which makes it significant from other OS. It is written in C Programming language and assembly langauge. It is created by Linus Torvalds in 1991 when he was a student at the University of Helsinki. Linux is also unique from other operating systems as it has no single owner, it is controlled by mutiple programmers and multi-licensed system. All code must be compatible with version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2). Currently its main distributors are including VA Linux, TurboLinux, Mandrakelinux, Red Hat and SuSE GMbH.
